LRW #217 - Merry Christmas

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!
If you're reading this as this post goes live, I'm likely in the midst of witnessing the magic of Christmas. I am watching in delight, as my children's faces are filled with excitement and joy.
It will be a magical and memory filled day--and I wish yours is the same!

This week's Little Red Wagon challenge is appropriately
Anything Christmas.

I couldn't decide between these two cards.
Sweet image from WhimsieDoodles -- one of my first attempts at colouring hair!

I added some glossy accents onto Rudolph's nose here:

Hope you can sit back with a warm "bevie" and check out what the rest of the DT created for Christmas.

Have a great one!!

Thanks 4 your time!

LRW#216 -- Non-traditional Christmas Colours

Wow--only one week left until Christmas!! Shopping is done--now I just have to wrap!

This week's Little Red Wagon challenge from Regan asks us to think outside the gift box and use

NON-TRADITIONAL CHRISTMAS COLOURS

Here's my take:
I made this originally for last week's Holiday Birthday challenge (I also need quite a few December birthday cards), but the sentiment could be swapped out for a standard Holiday greeting.  I glued up my hand cut snow hills and covered them with superfine glitter.  The shimmer IRL is awesome!

Be sure to check out what the rest of the DT created,
then link up your non-traditonal Christmas colour project here.

LRW #214--Here Comes Santa Claus

[Sorry for the late post--computer was not cooperating this morning]

Hard to believe we're only a few weeks away from Christmas!  Blogland is full of holiday inspiration right now, and Little Red Wagon is no exception!
Jan has asked us this week to feature Jolly 'ol Santa Claus.  I used this Santa image last week, and I'm using him again this week (only Santa image I have, really, but I love using it!).  I went for a CAS card to have him pop!  I had to glitter his fur trim again, too!

Check out how the rest of the DT used Santa on their projects (links in my sidebar).

LRW #213 -- Off the Edge

It's another challenge at Little Red Wagon!

It's Joanne turn, and her challenge for this week is to create a card that has an element or embellishment that extends beyond the base of your card.

Here's my take:
I added some glitter to Santa's trim.

Check out what the rest of the DT has created,
then link up your "off the edge" project here.

LRW #212 -- Accordion Fold

Hello all!  Definitely a challenge for me this week over at Little Red Wagon . . .

where the challenge is to use and ACCORDION FOLD on your project.  I don't own a Scor-pal or an accordion type die, so I tend to avoid any type of fancy folds, but here's what I came up with:

Just a small accordion fold peaking out from behind my sentiment label die.  Do you like how my sentiment complements my stamped background in a "pun"-ny way?!
Be sure to check out the great accordion folds the rest of the DT has cooked up this week,
then link up your project to the LRW post here.

LRW #211--Keep in Trim

Happy Wednesday all!  Sorry I missed last week's LRW challenge.  Two words: Report Cards! (yuck).
I'm back with this week's challenge from Jayne over at Little Red Wagon.

She's asked us to use TRIM on our projects . . . one problem for me--I had absolutely NO trim in my wagon.  I also have had no time to go shopping for crafty goodness (nor much time to craft).  So I improvised and focused on "trimming" an edge of something on my card with something that stands out.  I used some double sided adhesive and glitter.

Check out the "real" trim the rest of the DT gals used on their projects.
then link up your creation to the LRW blog here.

LRW--the Obvious Halloween Challenge

Happy Halloween folks!!  No better time for a Halloween challenge from Regan over at Little Red Wagon.

Here's my Halloween creation:

LRW #208 - - Brads/Eyelets . . . Remember those?!

It's my turn to host the challenge over at Little Red Wagon this week,

and I'm asking you to dig way into your wagon and use up some of those BRADS and/or EYELETS you have hoarded ;)

I have so many of them, but I just find I don't use them very often any more, so I challenged myself and came up with this:

Now, I'm challenging you to do the same!

Check out how the rest of the DT used BRADS / EYELETS,
then link up your project on the Little Red Wagon site here.

LRW #207 - Mini-mize Me!

Sorry folks--my head cold this week has left me MIA. In addition, my camera battery charger was MIA too, so I couldn't even upload my photos if I did have the energy to post.  Alas, it has been found and here I am--better late than never.  Besides, I really like the cards I made for this week's Little Red Wagon challenge . . .

which is to make MINI cards (no larger that 3")

I made 2!  One for Halloween:

 And one for the Holidays:

Check out the great MINI creations the rest of the DT came up with, and then link up your mini creation to the LRW site here.

LRW #206 -- Thanksgiving

So looking forward to [Canadian] Thanksgiving this weekend!  It's always a blessing to spend time together with family over some great food!

This week over at LRW, Joanne has challenged us to create a Thanksgiving themed project.

Here's my take:

Hope you can join us this week!  Check out what the rest of the DT created, then link up your project to the LRW blog here.

LRW #205 - Use a FENCE

OOps--quite a few days late on this post--pardon me!

Over at Little Red Wagon this week,

Jan has challenged us to add a FENCE to our projects.
This was quite a challenge for me.  I could think of any "fence" in my wagon, but then I remembered these teeny-tiny fence images from my PTI Boards and Beams stamp set, and I made this:

There are a couple of days left to play along with the challenge.
Check out the other great "fence" projects the rest of the DT came up with,

LRW #204 -- Vintage

Jayne's asking us to kick it ol' school this week over at Little Red Wagon

She wants to see some projects with a vintage feel.

I don't really do the classic vintage--you know, that shabby chic style vintage.  I've tried it, and it's just not me.  So instead, I went with the a worn-out, distressed vintage look.  The button is probably vintage--so that counts, right?.
I made this for my nephew's 14th birthday (hence the stamped "14").
I heat embossed the woodgrain background with clear embossing powder, then distressed all the rest, what's that called again? Emboss resist technique?  I can never remember the technical terms for anything!

Any way, head on over to the LRW blog and check out what the rest of the DT cooked up before linking up your own VINTAGE project.

LRW #203--Colour Challenge

Roseanne has a colour challenge for us this week at LRW

KRAFT, BLACK & CREAM (or White)

I chose to go with a layout this time; and really challenged myself with the photo I selected.  I normally would have gone with a blue palette for a beach photo, but I love how this turned out.
Hard to tell in the pic, but these oval are white shell pieces from a necklace that broke--you know I'm all about re-purposing!

Be sure to check out what the rest of the DT did with this colour combo.
Then, link up your project to LRW!

LRW #202 -- Polaroid Frame

Okay, so it looks as though I totally forgot to post on my own blog last week when I was hosting the challenge over at LRW (you can check it here; but the challenge is now over). Oops!

This week Regan has challenged us to use a polaroid frame.

I got this free digi polaroid image over at Whimsie Doodles.  I don't colour a lot, but experimented this weekend on some of the free digi stamps they have.  It was a bit tricky to colour around those snowflakes and get a perfect background. I definitely want to take some classes.

Yikes--I can really see my boo-boos in this close-up!

LRW #200 -- Polka Dots

Wowzas!!  How did it get to be Friday night?!?  Between flying home from Cuba this week, a pile of vacation laundry, setting my class up for the start of the school year, and all of the regular day-to-day duties,  and my blog just had to get neglected.  Better late than never, I guess.

This week's Little Red Wagon challenge is to use Polka Dots!
Here's my take:

Hope you can play along!

LRW #199 -- Layers

I've scheduled this post; so as it goes live, I'll be waking up in hot, sunny Cuba!!  Hola amigos!!

This week at Little Red Wagon, Joanne has challenged us to use layers

She wants to see at least 3 layers on your project!   So I guess there are a few ways to interpret this; I created two projects using two different "layer" techniques.  First, I layered 3 different strips of patterned paper for this card:

For my second technique, I thought of those layered cakes you see all over Pinterest these days, like this:

. . . and I created stamped layers of the same sentiment

Show us what kind of layers you can create; be sure to stop by the rest of the DT blogs first for some more inspiration!

A Scrapbook layout!! Say wha????

It has literally been months since I scrapbooked a layout.  In fact, I hadn't downloaded photos from my camera (other than card photos for the weekly LRW challenges) since January!!  I know, crazy!!  Well, with the summer weeks coming to a close, I was determined to do some scrapbooking this past week.
Being a bit rusty, I needed some inspiration.  This August sketch over at Two Scrapbook Friends is just what I need to get a layout done fairly quickly.

Now remember, sketches are meant to be an inspiration point--you don't have to copy every last detail. I took some creative license and flipped the whole sketch upside down, and I added a photo with the title.
 Here are some detail shots:
